چکیده

We consider First-Order Linear Temporal Logic (FO-LTL) over linear time N. We focus on finding models with finite first-order domains for FO-LTL formulas. More precisely, we investigate the complexity of the following problem: given a formula φ and an integer n, is there a model of φ with domain of cardinality at most n? We show that depending on the logic considered (FO or FO-LTL) and on the precise encoding of the problem, the problem is either NP-complete, NEXPTIMEcomplete, PSPACE-complete or NEXPSPACE-complete. In a second part, we exhibit cases where the Finite Model Property can be lifted from fragments of FO to their FO-LTL extension.

Decidable fragment of first-order temporal logics

In this paper, we introduce a new fragment of the first-order temporal language, called the monodic fragment, in which all formulas beginning with a temporal operator (Since or Until) have at most one free variable. We show that the satisfiability problem for monodic formulas in various linear time structures can be reduced to the satisfiability problem for a certain fragment of classical first...

Characterising Finite Domains in Monodic First-Order Temporal Logic

In this paper we introduce a syntactic characterisation of finite domains in first-order temporal logics. In addition to showing that this characterisation is complete with respect to finite domains, we show that the formulae are still within a decidable fragment of first-order temporal logic. This allows us to automatically verify certain finite properties of temporal specifications simply by ...

On the Computational Complexity of Decidable Fragments of First-Order Linear Temporal Logics

We study the complexity of some fragments of firstorder temporal logic over natural numbers time. The onevariable fragment of linear first-order temporal logic even with sole temporal operator2 is EXPSPACE-complete (this solves an open problem of [10]). So are the one-variable, two-variable and monadic monodic fragments with Until and Since. If we add the operators n, with n given in binary, th...

Planning with First-Order Temporally Extended Goals using Heuristic Search

Temporally extended goals (TEGs) refer to properties that must hold over intermediate and/or final states of a plan. The problem of planning with TEGs is of renewed interest because it is at the core of planning with temporal preferences. Currently, the fastest domain-independent classical planners employ some kind of heuristic search. However, existing planners for TEGs are not heuristic and a...
